Plate compactor or tamping rammer: where to start

A short buying checklist built around material, access and the working area.

Equipment workshop reference

Start with the material and access

Share the soil or paving material, working width and whether the job is an open area or a confined trench. These details are more useful than choosing only by engine size.

Consider the working pattern

A plate compactor provides a broad contact area. Forward and reversible travel suit different handling requirements. A rammer has a smaller shoe that can help with access to confined backfill areas. Soil suitability still needs to be checked.

Compare the confirmed configuration

Review operating mass, force, plate or shoe dimensions, engine configuration and local service availability together. Do not transfer specifications between model suffixes.

Send WEE your application

Include the destination, estimated quantity and engine preference. We will shortlist configurations and confirm the technical data before quotation.
